The ODIs was DEFINITELY keeping it on life support. I'm not a fan of T20. I've always enjoyed ODIs and developed a taste for Test cricket as I aged. I DID play for my school in NZ in the early 70s (5/20 was my best, living up to the stereotypical Indian spinner). HOWEVER, being starved of cricket here in the US and not having the luxury of subscribing to certain live broadcasts, nor the ability to maintain the time differences and a life, I HAVE been watching the T20 World Cup highlights. I never did before, nor take an interest in the IPL. This T20 World Cup has stimulated an interest in the US among non expats. There's a serious movement to introduce cricket in the California high school system. That's a brilliant idea! Plus, it's a sport that has little to no head trauma, almost zero fights, immediately ends hissy fits and strictly enforces the rules of the game. As compared to ice hockey as a prime example, where the umpire stands and watches 2 "players" perform rudimentary dentistry upon each other, much to the delight of the paying public. What a great example to set for young minds! I just turned 65 and hope to see cricket become as popular as football ( 🙄 soccer) has become in the US.
